Heidelberg's supervisory board has appointed Ludwin Monz, 58, as the new CEO succeeding Rainer Hundsdörfer, 65, who has headed the group since November 2016, the German group announced yesterday after the stock market closed.
"These have been very challenging years here at the Heidelberg Group, said Rainer Hundsdörfer . We have successfully dealt with the pandemic and strategically reoriented the group through our transformation plan. I am proud to be part of the Heidelberg family. I wish my successor Ludwin Monz a good start to the new financial year and success."
Martin Sonnenschein, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, praised the work of Rainer Hundsdörfer: "He managed to successfully guide the group through the covid-19 crisis, while setting the course for its strategic development and establishing it with new activities such as e-mobility."
Rainer Hundsdörfer will hand over to Ludwin Monz on April 1, 2022, the start of the group's fiscal year.

Ludwin Monz is the current chairman of the board of Carl Zeiss Meditec, a publicly traded German medical device company. He will step down from this position on December 31, 2021. The future CEO of Heidelberg is also on the board of directors of the Carl Zeiss holding company to which Carl Zeiss Meditec belongs.

After earning a doctorate in physics in Germany, Ludwin Monz worked as a scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, USA and at the Darmstadt Research Institute in Germany.
He also holds an MBA from the UK. In 1994 he joined Zeiss as a scientist. Two years later, he became head of development for geodetic systems and then general manager of the business unit. In 2000, he joined the Medical Technology division of Zeiss.
