Label manufacturer Stratus Packaging expands into Switzerland

This acquisition allows Stratus Packaging to continue its strategy to become a complete player in the adhesive label industry.

"This is a major strategic step" for Stratus Packaging. The group, one of Europe's largest manufacturers of self-adhesive labels, sleeves and In Mould Label (IML), took over the Swiss Koch AG on December 13. Koch AG, founded in 1928, specializes in self-adhesive labels with finishing. The company has sales of 10 million Swiss francs (9.5 million euros) and 38 employees. Thomas Borter, current head of Koch AG and now CEO of the Swiss subsidiary.

Present in Switzerland since 2014, Stratus Packaging, based in Viriat in the Ain region, is thus strengthening its position in the Swiss Confederation while gaining access to a strategic site for its European customers. Isidore Leiser, founder and CEO of Stratus Packaging, states: "This acquisition is part of our ambition to build a reference group for all printing solutions, while benefiting from Koch AG's historical know-how in high-quality finishing." This operation is in line with Stratus Packaging's goal of becoming a complete player in the adhesive label industry.

Stratus Packaging now has a turnover of 60 million euros with 350 employees and operates seven production sites for labels, shrink sleeves and IML for various sectors. With Koch AG, the group is integrating a new plant equipped with modern production tools for flexographic and digital printing, as well as numerous finishing processes, including embossing, hot stamping, cold stamping, screen printing, and relief varnishing.
