Heidelberg offers new, more durable ink technology

Called Pure, the range of inks marketed by Heidelberg is composed of a complete jet of colors, metallic inks and varnishes and meets the criteria of all the main ecolabels.

A new generation of environmentally friendly inks is coming to the European market. Heidelberg has just integrated the Pure sheet-fed offset inks into its portfolio. Technologically, these consumables are the new and third ink technology, says its manufacturer. Intended for commercial and food packaging printing, they are said to be more environmentally friendly than conventional or UV-cured offset inks, thanks to their formulation and curing process.

Pure inks do not contain mineral oil, palm oil, soybean oil, coconut oil, metallic driers, antioxidants or microplastics. The majority of the ingredients are derived from renewable raw materials without further chemical modification or synthesis.
The inks are odorless and offer excellent deinking results, according to both companies.
Pure meets the criteria of all major ecolabels (EU Ecolabel, Nordic Ecolabelling, Austrian Ecolabel UZ24, Blauer Engel UZ195).
"Thanks to its unique drying mechanism, the ink dries quickly and at a much lower temperature than normal, which contributes to higher energy efficiency." emphasizes Heidelberg.

Michael Berz, CEO of Pure, adds: "We have worked for several years to achieve this high level of quality. After joint testing, Heidelberg offers a complete Pure inkjet, which is the key to the European success of this new technology. With the market launch via Heidelberg, we can leverage the Heidelberg network and its application know-how to introduce Pure to all customers. In this way, we are helping our industry to achieve its sustainability goals."

The Pure range is composed of a complete palette of colors, metallic inks and varnishes.
