Manufacturer Durst opens innovation center in Italy

Christoph Gamper, CEO of Durst

This new Durst Kraftwerk facility, which includes the European branch of Vanguard as well as other subsidiaries of Durst and its holding company, is intended to be a space for R&D and training.

This month, digital printing machine manufacturer Durst inaugurated a brand new site of over 5,300 m 2 . The brand new building, named Durst Kraftwerk, is located next to the group's headquarters in Brixen, Italy, and houses the new activities of Durst and its holding company.

"Durst was cramped in its premises in Brixen and had to create the European branch of Vanguard Digital Systems which we acquired in October 2020 , explains David Gobert, General Manager of Durst France. This new construction brings together the European team, as well as storage and assembly operations of the U.S. manufacturer of large-format printing systems."

Durst Kraftwerk also hosts the showroom for Vanguard Europe's flatbed printers.
This exhibition and demonstration area is open to interested distributors and printers, but David Gobert emphasizes that it is not a "one-stop shop", "in France we have our distributor, ID Numérique, which presents, in Voisins-Le-Bretonneux in the Yvelines, the Vanguard VR6 flatbed UV table configured with 10 print heads."

Over 100 employees dedicated to R&D and training

The new building also includes the Durst Academy, the training center for Durst engineers. This space consists of facilities for online and offline seminars and a green screen to create customized process, hardware and software training for customers and service partners around the world.

In addition, Kraftwerk concentrates the recent acquisitions of Durst's parent company, Technicon. Durst Kraftwerk includes two companies specializing in 3D printing technologies, Adddam and D3-AM, as well as the marketing communications company DMC.

"In this way, we provide a creative environment where companies can fully focus on their respective areas of expertise - without the 'burden' of integration into an established structure." says Christoph Gamper, CEO and co-owner of the Durst Group.

"Our goal is to create a true innovation center for specialized service providers within the Durst Kraftwerk." adds Harald Oberrauch, owner of Technicon Holding.

35 people were hired for this opening. In the long term, however, Durst hopes to have more than 100 employees, who will be dedicated to R&D and training.
