Packaging and display manufacturer Thimm invests five million euros

This new packaging production line is installed in mirror image of the current line in order to benefit from synergy effects.

The German group Thimm, producer of packaging and retail solutions, has installed a new corrugated converting line in its Northeim plant, Germany, for five million euros.

The 2.50 m wide BGM Case Line CL11/25 from German manufacturers Bahmüller and Göpfert increases the production capacity of printed and die-cut folding cartons for consumer goods and e-commerce shipments.

In order to integrate this corrugated cardboard processing line, it was necessary to carry out a one million euro relocation and modernization of the facilities.

"This investment is an important step in the development of our packaging plants and places the Northeim site in optimal conditions to continue to meet the high quality and capacity requirements of our customers." says Michael Weber, the group's director of strategy and marketing.

The installation of the BGM in mirror image of the existing production line and the positioning of two rotary blanks in mirror image have created two new production centers within the plant.

"Thanks to this parallel arrangement in the two production centers, we benefit from valuable synergy effects, as the employees operating the two machines work efficiently as a team in this way. This facilitates personnel planning, among other things, and also allows for flexible job rotation." explains Michael Weber.

The group, a manufacturer of transport packaging, sales displays and distributor of corrugated board and printing products for industrial converting, employs more than 2,500 people at 13 sites in Europe, including eight in Germany and one in France (Christiansen Print in Garancières-en-Beauce in the Eure-et-Loir). In 2021, Thimm generated sales of ?698 million.
