Since February, Isiprint has been using Contiweb's rehumidifier (Digital Fluid Applicator) on its rotary inkjet press. Olivier Guermouh, the printing company's Associate General Manager, shares the changes this brings to the finished product.

Paper curl and shrinkage are common problems in rotary inkjet printing. High-temperature ink drying also dries out the substrate. And as the substrate seeks to reabsorb moisture, it will tend to curl and vary in size.
To solve these problems on coated papers, Isiprint, located in La Courneuve (Seine-Saint-Denis), installed Contiweb's Digital Fluid Applicator (DFA) system.

Part of the Estimprim group, the company specializes in the printing, finishing and mailing of magazines and books for major publishers, up to 1,500 copies, and is the first in France to use the Dutch manufacturer's rehumidifier.
Isiprint, which has around thirty employees, installed the equipment in February, in line with its Ricoh Pro VC70000 rotary inkjet press.

Placed between the press exit and the rewinder, the DFA rewets the substrate by applying water via steel contact rollers pressed mechanically against the paper web.

According to Olivier Guermouh, Associate General Manager of Estimprim and Isiprint, since the installation of Contiweb's DFA, finished products no longer present any moisture-related problems.
Previously, "coated papers tended to curl or change format slightly, which was visible on the inside pages, which, as they regained their moisture, protruded from the cover", he explains.
From now on, "(...) Thanks to Contiweb's DFA, we have significantly improved the quality of our products."
