The first day of Labelexpo Europe in Brussels saw the launch on the Fujifilm stand of LuXtreme, the Japanese manufacturer's latest UV led curing system. Converting a standard flexographic press to UV led curing is now easy with LuXtreme, enabling label production on narrow web presses to be optimized.
LuXtreme reaches speeds of 200 m/minute and has an energy intensity of up to 25 W/cm 2 this is 30-50% higher than that of existing LED drying systems. Lamp lengths of up to 720 mm can be extended in 24 mm increments. Integration of this new LuXtreme system is facilitated by the supply of a led adapter.
Fujifilm announces a sustainable system
Positioning is improved and bracket deformation reduced, thanks to the 30-60% reduction in the number of LED lamps normally required. This significantly reduces material consumption and waste. And according to the manufacturer, LEDs have a life expectancy of 50,000 hours.
Manuel Schrutt, Packaging Manager at Fujifilm EMEA, explains: "Sustainability is at the forefront of our processes and product development."
As LuXtreme is a less energy-intensive system, cost savings can be made throughout the production process. Less maintenance, downtime and stalling mean fewer spare parts. Personnel costs associated with maintenance are also naturally reduced.
