Corrugated packaging producer Saica invests in Belgium

This investment is designed to raise Saica's profile in Northern Europe, where demand for corrugated packaging is on the rise.

Spanish manufacturer of recycled paper for corrugated board Saica acquires a minority shareholding in Pacapime, a producer of corrugated board and corrugated packaging based in Halle, Belgium.

Pacapime, whose origins date back to 1919, has a strong presence on the Benelux, French and German markets. The Belgian company employs 109 people and is forecasting sales of 61 million euros for 2022, 80% of which in the food sector.

For Ramon Alejandro, President of Saica, this collaboration will help increase "visibility" in Northern Europe, where the corrugated packaging market is booming.
With over 10,000 employees, Saica is one of Europe's largest producers of recycled paper for corrugated board, with an annual production capacity of 3.3 million tonnes, and is present in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the UK, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Turkey, the USA and Poland.

In July, Saica acquired a minority stake in the Annone di Brianza and Pietrasanta corrugated board plants in Italy, again with a view to expanding its presence in the Southern European corrugated board markets. These two plants generated sales of 105 million euros in 2022 and employ 247 people.
