British marking film manufacturer Foilco goes under Japanese flag

Foilco changes shareholder to Japanese control. With this operation, the two manufacturers combine their product portfolios and geographical positions to structure their international development.

Foilco changes dimension. Founded in 1987 in the north of England, the British manufacturer of hot stamping films is joining the Japanese Washin group, which specializes in marking films for plastics decoration and technical coatings.

The operation gives Foilco, active in the luxury goods (textiles, leather, etc.), packaging, label and graphic arts markets, access to a range of metallized products that it did not previously possess. Washin boasts a collection of over 3,000 colors and more than 300 formulations.
Matt Hornby, who runs the company with his brother Paul, says: " Their product range is an incredible resource, and their philosophy is perfectly aligned with ours: to offer bespoke colors and technically advanced qualities that meet all our industry's applications, for optimum results."
What's more, belonging to a manufacturer will strengthen Foilco's position with the market's leading brands.

For Washin, the acquisition marks a major step in its international development. Already present in certain markets outside Japan, the Japanese manufacturer relies on Foilco to strengthen its access to global markets.

Washin manager Shin Nakamichi describes a clear division of roles: " Foilco has expertise in international marketing, distribution and sales, Washin brings industrial expertise. A coherent combination."
