Caldera launches version 17 of CalderaRIP

CalderaRIP 17 is now compatible with Apple's latest operating system, Adobe PDF Print Engine 6.2 and 30 new printing and cutting devices, and features new color management functions.

Strasbourg-based Caldera launches CalderaRIP 17, a major update of its large-format digital printing and cutting software. Version 17 brings a number of new features designed to simplify the printing and cutting process.

CalderaRIP 17, enhanced compatibility...

One of the major new features of CalderaRIP 17 is its compatibility with Apple's latest operating system, macOS Sonoma, deployed last September, and the integration of Adobe PDF Print Engine 6.2. According to Arnaud Fabre, Production Manager at Caldera, this integration guarantees compatibility with the evolving Adobe Creative Suite and ensures accurate rendering for all PDF files.

In addition to the more than 1600 drivers already integrated into the RIP, this update adds 24 printer drivers (the mimaki JFX550-2513 and JFX600-2513 UV led printing tables ) and six for cutting machines (the Summa S Class 3 cutting plotter, for example).

... additional color management features

CalderaRIP 17 also offers improvements in color management. It is now possible to share spot color libraries, facilitating the installation of new workstations. In addition, the new version lets you select the formula for measuring color distances and activate the automatic smoothing option, which should improve linearization curves and eliminate inaccuracies in color measurement.

In addition, users benefit from the latest color additions to Pantone Solid Coated V5 and Pantone Solid Uncoated V5. And Caldera continues to supply RAL and HKS spot color libraries.

And new products in cutting and CalderaCare

Other new features in this latest version include the Cut Around Bleed tool. During canvas production, this new tool automatically generates a cutting contour around the canvas's bleed, which should save time when preparing files.

The French publisher also offers new features for CalderaCare users, including an InkPerformer license for one printer, which helps reduce ink consumption.
