A world record
Label printing specialist Moquin Press has made history with a new world record: 452,755 sheets produced in just 24 hours on the HEIDELBERG Speedmaster XL 106. This success is the result of a series of technical innovations that enabled the press to reach a maximum speed of 21,000 sheets per hour. The press, configured with seven colors and an inline coating system, is the world's first specifically optimized for fine label production.
Precision at the heart of performance
Provided by Prinect Inpress Control 3 technology integrated into the Speedmaster XL 106, this on-line colorimetric control tool maintained unrivalled color consistency, with an average Delta E of 0.6. This stability was achieved despite operator changes and shift variations, underlining the efficiency of the on-board spectrophotometer. With less than 3,000 sheets of waste over the entire run, the press demonstrated an efficiency rare in the printing industry.
Process automation and optimization
Processes are triggered automatically, with human intervention kept to a minimum. During the seven plate changes and thirteen material roll replacements on the CutStar, the press continued to run without interruption, maximizing productivity. The major innovation was the newly designed non-stop delivery system, which enabled 50 pallet changes without the slightest incident, even at full speed.
Towards new heights of productivity
Moquin Press has no intention of stopping there. Less than nine months after installing the Speedmaster XL 106, the company is already aiming to beat its own record. "Our operators are becoming increasingly familiar with this technology, and we know we can improve our performance still further," says Moquin's Managing Director Marcio Ribiero. This success testifies not only to the excellence of the equipment, but also to the technical mastery of the production teams.
