Printing on jacquard fabric has always presented significant technical constraints. Epson has come up with a solution in the form of the Monna Lisa ML-16000JQ, a 180 cm-wide digital textile printer capable of printing on both sides of these weaves with different colored threads.
The ML-16000JQ, double-sided technology for jacquard fabrics
The Monna Lisa ML-16000JQ incorporates a recognition system that precisely identifies the shapes and positions of textile patterns. This technology makes it possible to adapt the printing of the fabric if necessary, thus ensuring better print quality, explains Epson.
What's more, this new machine can print both sides of the fabric in different colors. "This unique capability enhances customization, engenders greater creative freedom for designers and enables new possibilities in textile design."
A versatile textile ink system
The ML-16000JQ uses 16 Epson PrecisionCore printheads for printing at up to 1200 DPI. It offers eight colors using Genesta inks (available in acid, reactive, dispersed and pigment). This versatility makes it possible to work on a wide variety of natural and vegetable fibers.
It also provides on-demand printing. Fabrics can be produced on an as-needed basis rather than in large quantities, reducing the overproduction of traditional printing processes.
