Driven by demand in logistics, retail and healthcare, RFID technology continues to gain momentum. BW Papersystems anticipates annual growth of 30âeuros¯%. To keep pace with this growth, the American manufacturer of paper converting machinery unveiled a new RFID converting line, the SpeedLiner X, at the Labelexpo Europe 2025 label trade show, which runs until September 19 in Barcelona.
The manufacturer, a subsidiary of the Barry-Wehmiller Group, promises a quantum leap in performance for RFID processing manufacturers. The SpeedLiner X offers a 25% increase in annual capacity over conventional systems.
Four application lanes for 1,500 inlays per minute
The heart of this performance lies in the ability to produce on four application tracks simultaneously, combined with automated functions such as RFID inlay coil (antenna and chip) changeover and automated correction for precise timing at every stage.
The line reaches a speed of 1âeuros¯500 inlays per minute, i.e. four per second on each track. The RFID components are attached to several fixturing units. The line also incorporates an automatic registering and synchronization system, eliminating the need for manual changeovers and setting adjustments.
The SpeedLiner X is based on a modular architecture, allowing its configuration to evolve according to production needs.
The manufacturer also highlights an operator interface designed for accessible use, with an integrated assistance system to make it easier to get started, as well as simplified maintenance.
"Designed for high performance, the SpeedLiner X combines speed, scalability and flexibility like never before." says Bernard Niemöller, Sales Director at BW Papersystems.
