Japanese manufacturer Asahi Photoproducts is launching its new Revo Series of flexographic printing plates at the Labelexpo trade show, held in Barcelona from September 16 to 19. Developed from existing AWP and AFP technologies, this range for flexible packaging and labels is designed to reduce the environmental impact of plate production.
Two approaches to the same quality
The Revo Series includes two models of flexo plates: AWP-Revo, washable with water, and AFP-Revo, designed for processes using smaller quantities of solvents.
Both solutions feature Asahi's proprietary CleanPrint technology, which optimizes ink transfer and reduces machine downtime for plate cleaning, explains the manufacturer. It enables the same print quality to be achieved whatever the development process.
90% of AWP-Revo plate wash water reused
AWP-Revo water-washable photopolymer plates are produced by the AWP-Revo 2530AA compact unit. It is accompanied by the AWP-Loop Petite, a water recycling module based on a Microza filtration membrane designed by Asahi Kasei. It enables 90% of wash water to be reused. This closed system should significantly reduce liquid waste and associated costs.
AWP-Revo plates are available in two finishes: WHR (RoundTop) and WHF (FlatTop), to cover different label printing needs.
30% fewer solvents with AFP-Revo
AFP-Revo plates are aimed at printers specializing in flexible packaging and high-end labels. They are formulated to consume around 30% less solvent than conventional plates, and boast reduced drying times.
Compatible with all ink systems, they are designed to maximize solid density while maintaining fine detail.
Larger formats coming soon
The Revo Series is currently dedicated to compact formats, but Asahi says it is working on extending the range to meet the needs of the large-format market.
