Saica commissions a biomass boiler in Champblain-Laveyron
The Spanish group Saica has inaugurated a biomass boiler at its Champblain-Laveyron paper mill in the Drôme region, the third installation of this type at a Saica site in France after Venizel and Nogent-sur-Seine.
Fueled by 105âeuros000Â tonnes of locally collected end-of-life wood and 50âeuros000Â tonnes of paper by-products per year, the new boiler replaces a natural gas boiler. The equipment should reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 60%, gas consumption by 77% and by 90% the amount of by-products sent to landfill. The project, supported by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe), is part of a 174 million euro industrial modernization plan for the site.
In France, the Saica Group, which employs 12,000 people and has sales of 3.7 billion euros, has more than 2,300 employees at 21 sites and sales in excess of one billion euros.
