Hubergroup's offset inks are changing

This formulation, which contains a new resin, is said by the ink manufacturer to offer significant improvements in printing performance.

Hubergroup Print Solutions launches a new generation of conventional offset inks based on a completely revised resin technology. The German manufacturer of printing chemicals and inks will roll out this development worldwide in the first half of 2026.

The new formulation will be integrated into several ranges already used in commercial printing and packaging, including Resista, Rapida Eco, Eco-Perfect-Dry, Packaging Plus, MGA Natura and MGA Corona. Commercial references will remain unchanged.

Resins play a central role in offset inks. In particular, they influence viscosity, tack, misting resistance, drying speed and adhesion to the printed substrate. "Improved resin means improved ink" says Richard Gill, sheetfed offset product manager at Hubergroup.

The manufacturer, which produces its own resins, explains that it has worked on a new formulation that improves several production parameters simultaneously.
It offers "significant improvements in print performance, while maintaining consistently high print quality". According to Hubergroup, tests carried out on long-term production runs show reduced misting, a wider fount solution range and lower levels of fount solution required during printing.
The Group also reports a decline in "important" number of makeready sheets, as well as greater stability in density and color reproduction, even on high-speed offset presses.
