Domino Printing Sciences is launching the Ax560i, a continuous-flow inkjet marking and coding printer designed for production and packaging lines.
Domino has redesigned the printhead for its Ax series and paired it with CleanAssist, an automated cleaning system. A nozzle-face sealing technology is designed to facilitate restarting after a scheduled shutdown. An air-drying system also protects the printhead in humid environments.
The Ax560i also monitors the status of its various components to flag potential anomalies before a shutdown. Cleaning prompts also allow certain operations to be scheduled during planned production downtime. Cloud-based dashboards display operating data, while remote diagnostics can eliminate the need for some technician visits.
The printer retains the QuickStep 3 interface and includes new wizards to guide users through certain operations. According to Domino, CleanAssist also reduces exposure to solvents and optimizes the consumption of cleaning fluid.
To manage variable data, Domino Designer centralizes the messages sent to the print lines. The printer can also be integrated with the manufacturer?s automated coding and vision inspection systems to minimize errors.
Integration with production systems relies primarily on the Ethernet/IP and OPC-UA protocols. Domino also uses its Dynamark protocol to facilitate communication with its other coding and marking systems.
