Drilling tiny holes in an adhesive label without disrupting its passage through a packaging line: that was the challenge Autajon took on for the non-alcoholic sparkling beverage brand French Bloom.
The French packaging manufacturer, which employs more than 4,600 people, has scaled up production of a micro-perforation measuring just 0.32 mm in diameter. According to Autajon, this is the first adhesive label for wines and spirits to incorporate a micro-perforation in industrial production.
This project has just won an award in the Label category at the 2026 Formes de Luxe Awards, held during Luxe Pack Monaco, which took place from September 28 to 30.
The real challenge of the project was that the perforation had to stop at the front and not damage the liner of the adhesive composite. This allowed the label to continue being produced on a roll and then automatically applied to the bottles. Precise registration was also essential to ensure that the perforation aligned with the printing and finishing processes.

Designed in collaboration with the Paris-based agency Servaire & Co, this bottle label incorporates these perforations directly as a graphic element. Light passes through the paper, revealing the pattern differently depending on the lighting. "These micro-perforations reflect French Bloom's winemaking philosophy: to remove alcohol while preserving the wine's character, allowing light to pass through the paper to reveal the Bloom." explains French Bloom.
The label also features printing, foil stamping, and a glossy embossed finish on premium, uncoated, FSC-certified white paper.
