Lidl's cereal box packaging is changing

Lidl will stop using colourful characters on its cereal boxes in the UK. The German hard discounter, which is present all over Europe, wants to give a more positive image of its own private label to parents.
"According to GlobalData's Q3 2019 consumer survey, 54% of UK consumers pay high/very high attention to the ingredients used in the products they buy for their children, says the consulting agency GlobalData. Therefore, Lidl eliminating marketing gimmicks and bringing back the focus on nutritional value and well-being will help parents focus on what's important."
The decision also came in the wake of growing pressure from UK ministers who threatened to ban cartoon characters on all products suitable for children high in sugar, salt or fat.

A holiday change that is costing English printers dearly

In England, small printing companies are seeking compensation from the government after the chaos of the May holiday changeover, according to The Telegraph . This change to the timetable would have cost hundreds of thousands of pounds.
The government announced last year that the early May holiday would be moved this year from Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8, to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory Day.
But this announcement was made late, on 7 June, when many companies had already printed the 2020 calendars and agendas.
Two printers, AM Print Finishers and Allan & Bertram, estimate the cost of reprinting at £200,000 each (approximately 235?000 euros). Others have opted for other solutions such as printing a correction note. For the time being this request has not received a reply from the Government.
