With the Speedmaster 2020 generation launched in April 2020, Heidelberg automates the dampening system of the Speedmaster XL 106 offset press with the Hycolor Pro.
"80% of our ink-related service calls are about incorrect dampening system settings." says Rainer Wolf, Head of Sheet Products Management at Heidelberg. According to the German manufacturer, the Hycolor Pro system eliminates these problems. "Hycolor Pro saves time, effort and makes more precise adjustments, even during production."
The Hycolor Pro system automatically measures the amount of fount solution between the metering roller and the splash roller. The required pressure and crossover can then be set directly from the Prinect Press Center XL 3 control panel. The basic settings of the dampening system are stored in memory. It is also possible to adjust the metering on one side as well.
"With Hycolor Pro, we now have defined and measurable parameters that we can also use in remote service. From the control console, the printer can now dose the fount solution on one side, react more quickly and sensitively and approach the emulsion point much more precisely. This creates stable production conditions with less waste."
