The N730i, Domino's new generation label press

This new inkjet press reaches 70 m/min in optimum print quality.

A new label press comes on the market. Domino has unveiled its new digital label press, the Domino N730i.

It is the first printing machine based on Domino's Generation 7 inkjet platform. It took five years of development to build this new press. "This is the most important new product we've launched since we entered the digital label press market." In a press release, Philip Easton, Director of Domino Digital Printing Solutions, said: "We are pleased to announce the launch of the new Domino Digital Printing Solutions.

"Unlike other systems that compromise print quality or reliability to achieve higher print speeds, the N730i is designed to print all jobs - including those with screen white - at 70 m/min while still maintaining consistent, flawless print quality" assures the British manufacturer.

New printheads and automation systems for the Domino N730i

The Domino N730i features Brother Bitstartm 1200 dpi piezo printheads that combine a small drop size of 2.1 picoliters with larger drop sizes of 2.8 pl and 3.3 pl. This ensures that "consistent ink density throughout the image, with sharper edges and smoother gradation." .

The new label press is also equipped with various Domino's Intelligent Technology automation features including i-Tech SetAlign and i-Tech CleanCap2.
I-Tech SetAlign is a new system that adjusts density and precisely aligns print heads for consistent, seamless print quality across the entire web. With i-Tech CleanCap2, the manufacturer is improving its automated printhead coating and cleaning system.

Flexibility in print stations and applications

Domino wanted to offer a flexible press. So the N730i can be configured with flexographic printing stations to apply primer on difficult materials, spot colours, varnishes or solid white for shrink sleeve applications. These flexographic stations can be retrofitted.

Domino's range of UV90 inks offer excellent fade resistance (they have achieved top marks on the Blue Wool scale on certain materials). The white UV90 ink can be used as an alternative to screen printing, with an opacity level of up to 76%.
And the Textures by Domino print function allows you to create tactile effects on labels.
