Whereas.. UPM Raflatac's focus on linerless direct thermal paper labels ...its American competitor is playing the recycled card. Avery Dennison introduces rDT, the first direct thermal paper labels on the market to contain post-consumer recycled waste.
Avery Dennison sees a strong demand for sustainable direct thermal solutions, especially in the area of logistics and e-commerce. "The fact that such a widely used material does not have a recycled option available has exposed a major gap in the market, said Vincenzo Palumbo, Direct Thermal Paper Product Manager at Avery Dennison. We are delighted to launch rDT labels to meet the clear demand for sustainable products and to push the labelling industry towards more regenerative practices."
Avery Dennison rDT is a BPA-free direct thermal uncoated paper and its technical characteristics - visual appearance, processability, printability and barcode legibility - are similar to those of standard DT paper.
"Demand for sustainable materials will only increase from here on out, and we will continue to expand the rRange portfolio (Avery Recycled Product Line) and work to increase the percentage of recycled content in our products."
