After announcing paper price hikes from three suppliers - The Navigator Company, Sappi and Lecta it's the turn of a major ink producer to raise its prices. The American ink manufacturer Sun Chemical will raise the prices of most of its inks, varnishes and adhesives from March 1, 2021 in Europe, Africa and America.
"A combination of shortages of raw materials, including petrochemicals, vegetable oils and their derivatives, as well as the dramatic increase in the cost of international freight transport and demand due to the economic recovery, are contributing to this cost increase" The company is the world's largest producer of inks and pigments.
Nicolas Bétin, Sun Chemical's Director of Product Strategy EMEA, adds : "The pressure on the entire supply chain is causing raw material costs to rise sharply, unfortunately forcing us to raise customer prices."
