For 25 years, the European Carton Excellence Award has been recognizing carton packaging solutions in several categories (innovation, sustainability, food, cosmetics, etc.). The highest award of the competition is the "Carton of the Year" award (carton of the year). The competition, organized by the European association of cardboard and flat board manufacturers "Pro Carton", rewards what it considers the best packaging solutions in terms of design and functionality.
As a reminder, in 2020, the Best Carton of the Year award was won by the "Roku Gin" package produced by Van Genechten Packaging and made from Stora Enso board, and in 2019 by Gabrini's "In Love" eau de toilette package by Printpark created from Metsä Board board .
In 2021, a new "Carton Excellence Cup" will be awarded to the Carton of the Year winner. Specifically, there will be two cups, one for the carton manufacturer and one for the carton converter, says the Pro carton association. The names of the winners will be engraved on the cup and kept for one year before being passed on to the winners the following year.
