Agfa's Amfortis, the all-in-one workflow for offset packaging printing

Amfortis is a workflow for offset packaging production that combines numerous prepress and printing tools in a single solution.

Belgian manufacturer and publisher Agfa launches Amfortis, a workflow specifically designed for the production of offset packaging. This workflow combines several production software tools in one solution.

From a single interface, Amfortis streamlines all common prepress tasks, such as design optimization, scaling, repetition, screening and job management.
In addition, based on Agfa's Apogee offset workflow, the new workflow produces offset printing plates and proofs, but also drives digital presses, large-format printers and cutting equipment for sample and short run production.

Agfa's Amfortis, color consistency and print quality with less ink

Amfortis also integrates Agfa's standardization software, PressTune, which ensures color consistency and faster makeready, and Agfa's screening technology Spir@l. Spir@l, which replaces the traditional ink dot with other shapes, increases print quality while reducing inking (see for more details on Spir@l, read Agfa's New Screening Technology ).
Amfortis also supports extended color separation gamuts compatible with InkTune ink-saving software.

In addition, the new workflow is equipped with the latest version of Adobe's PDF print engine.

"Commercial printers who want to expand their business into packaging will be able to do so quickly and effortlessly." emphasizes Agfa.

It is also possible to integrate Agfa's Arziro to add design elements to the model to improve its attractiveness and protect the brand.

Workflow, the final piece to Agfa's complete offset packaging offering

Amfortis completes the Belgian manufacturer's offer for offset packaging, which already included printing plates and CTP.

"Packaging printing is a growing market segment that the pandemic has even strengthened with the increase in online shopping." notes Andy Grant, Agfa's global head of software. "At Agfa, we are pursuing an integrated solutions strategy for all the markets we serve. Amfortis represents the final piece of the puzzle for offset packaging."
The Amfortis flow corresponds to the ECO3 concept developed by Agfa since 2016, an acronym that stands for ecology, economy and extreme convenience. "We support our customers' business growth by providing cost-effective solutions that make their operations more sustainable, productive and convenient."

Fratelli Roda, a Swiss company that prints pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food packaging, was the first to use Amfortis. Its production manager, Gian Luca Pellegrinelli, testifies: "The enormous potential of Amfortis was immediately apparent. It made our production process both faster and safer, allowing us to eliminate intermediate steps. And our operators, already accustomed to working with Apogee, found the interface very intuitive."

June 17, virtual event dedicated to Amfortis

On Thursday, June 17, Agfa's experts invite printers and converters to learn more about this new workflow during two online events at 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in virtual Studio 4d48.
