The European Association of Carton and Flatboard Manufacturers, Pro Carton, has named the winners of its annual packaging competition. The jury members crowned Durero Packaging's "Bodegas Balsamic" package with the 2021 Carton of the Year award. This is the most prestigious award of the competition.
The "Bodegas Balsamic" gift box was designed for Toro Albalà 25 and 50 year old balsamic vinegar. The box is made up of 4 compartments that, once assembled, lock automatically, and when opened, are arranged one inside the other to resemble a Spanish fan. The interior of the package is decorated with copper hot stamping, reminiscent of the color of the carnations native to the city of Cordoba.
On the outside of the package, embossing and black matte varnish highlight the effect of a flower opening its petals. The gift package has a protective function, but also represents a base for the support and presentation of the product at the point of sale.
Janet Shipton, who is a member of the jury, said:
"This case is a great example of gift wrapping. The construction presents and protects the product beautifully. I liked the dramatic effect of the outer packaging that unfolds like a fan to reveal the bottle inside, and the filler board used that reflects the high quality of the product.»
