DTP: new version of Canon's PosterArtist software makes it easier to create

The new version of PosterArtist is now in the cloud, guides the user through the creation process and allows the addition of metallic and fluorescent effects.

Canon Europe launches today the new version of PosterArtist, which should simplify the design of posters, flyers and banners.

This latest installment of its Windows and macOS compatible DTP software is entirely cloud-based. The design software can be accessed from any computer connected to the internet through authentication managed by the Canon ID account and the designs can be printed on any of the linked Canon compatible printers.

Another new feature: PosterArtist now guides the user through all the steps of designing and printing posters.
A poster, flyer or banner can be created entirely from scratch or from one of the many templates and adaptable to various sectors, from retail to distribution to hospitality to education.

The new software also allows for the addition of gold and silver texture effects and fluorescent inks that can be printed on some of the Canon machines.

PosterArtist provides access to a wide range of templates, fonts and cliparts, page layouts and millions of royalty-free photos from the Pexels, Pixabay and Unsplash image banks.

"Printed posters remain one of the most effective ways to communicate about a product, service or event . Until now, clients who wanted to produce posters typically had to invest in complex design packages and spend considerable time figuring out how to use them." said Hiro Imamura, vice president of marketing and innovation for Canon Europe's Digital Printing & Solutions business.

He continues: "Now, with PosterArtist's intuitive user interface, all Canon customers, professional graphic designers and individuals, now have the ability to create creative posters, flyers and banners, regardless of their level of design expertise. And because the software can be accessed from any location, they have the flexibility to customize their poster applications in tune with today's hybrid work organizations."

PosterArtist is compatible with imagePrograf large format printers, imagePress production presses, imageRunner series multifunctional devices, i-Sensys, Pixma and Maxify home and small business printers.
