Flint eliminates heatset drying with its new ink

Flint Group has shifted its R&D efforts to address the current spike in gas prices by offering a heatset ink that "significantly improves the cost of printing."

Luxembourg-based ink manufacturer Flint Group offers a new series of inks for heatset web offset printing. Called Kryoset, it reduces or eliminates the need for drying in the heatset printing process.

"We've been developing this product for some time, explains Tony Lord, President of Flint Group's Commercial Publication Web and Flint Offset Packaging Solutions divisions, in a press release. It was originally intended for printing advertising inserts, in response to printers' desire to reduce the carbon footprint in the heatset printing process in order to sustainably support their customers."

He continues: "With the industry's current paper supply shortages, we chose to develop Kryoset for use on a wide web to ensure optimum performance with the substrates that are commercially available today."

According to Flint, production tests confirmed "on various common substrates that Kryoset inks produce "high-quality printing with the drying process considerably reduced or eliminated altogether, significantly improving the cost of printing during this volatile inflationary period".

Flint is very confident about the future of this product. " Demand for these products is expected to be strong. Initially, we will develop these products with our loyal customers before introducing them to a wider market."
