Soon QR codes on all Pernod Ricard bottle labels

The project will be rolled out globally by 2024, after a test in Europe that starts next month.

After adding a pictogram forbidden to minors on its alcohol bottles, Pernod Ricard also plans to put a QR Code on all the group's wine and spirits labels. This QR code printed on the back labels will allow consumers to be better informed about the French group's products that they buy.

A pilot program will be launched in Europe in July 2022, on a few strategic brands, before being extended worldwide to all 240 brands by 2024.

Once scanned with a smartphone with a generic QR code reader application, this black and white square will direct the consumer to an internet platform that will display the list of ingredients, nutritional information on the contents of the bottle, information on the health risks associated with alcohol consumption and recommendations on consumption issued by each state.

This "digital label system" will respond as follows "to the ever-changing needs of our consumers" said Alexandre Ricard, Chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard, in a statement. "More than ever, they want to know what they are drinking. Thanks to digital technologies, that information will now be readily available."
