The next generation Speedmaster, the SX 102 series, is coming. Heidelberg has designed a sheet-fed offset press for the "commercial printers who demand high productivity and perfect print quality" . The Speedmaster SX 102 has the particularity to be evolutionary: a very large choice of options is proposed in order to adapt to the needs of the printer.
A wide range of options for configuring the Speedmaster SX 102
In addition, depending on the application and performance needs of the printing company, the basic Speedmaster SX 102 model can be enhanced with numerous support systems and configurations based on the manufacturer's flagship XL technology.
These include the Intellistart 3 system, which determines the required operations for job changes without manual intervention, the Intelliline, which illuminates the printing units according to their production status, the Wash Assistant, which automatically selects wash programs, and the Powder Assistant, which optimally regulates powder usage. The automation can even be extended to the Push to Stop system, which ensures uninterrupted operation (makeready and printing). A double-sided configuration is also possible.
New offset printing plate format
The Speedmaster SX 102 is a press with the format 102 (72 x 102 cm), but the German manufacturer also proposes the format 92 is 65 x 94 cm. This format reduces the costs of the printing plates up to 20 % compared to the conventional 102. "This is a key economic consideration, especially given the sharp rise in raw material prices."
The Speedmaster SX 102 is equipped with the Prinect Press Center XL 3 control center and the Prinect workflow, so the offset press is fully integrated into the print shop's workflow.
"Our customers benefit from a scalable press that can be fully integrated and, if necessary, tailored to their exact needs using a range of established support systems from our Speedmaster XL solutions." says Stefan Hasenzahl, Head of Product Management at Heidelberg.
The Speedmaster SX 102 also features a new gallery and guards from the Speedmaster XL series. The feeder and Preset Plus recipe are also based on XL technology.
This new Heidelberg sheet-fed offset press is primarily intended for printers who produce all types of commercial products, but can also produce fine paper prints such as pharmaceutical leaflets.
