First HP PageWide Advantage 2200 in Europe installed at DataOne

This HP PageWide Advantage 2200 Rotary Press not only reduces the number of production machines, but also enables new product development.

DataOne, located in Saint-Aubin-sur-Gaillon in the Eure region, is one of the first companies in the world, and the first in Europe, to install the HP PageWide Advantage 2200 press. The Diffusion Plus Group company, which specializes in transactional document publishing, has just started production on this new rotary inkjet press.

Loïc Lefebvre, development director of Diffusion Plus, which has a turnover of 120 million euros, explains: "Our goal is clearly to reduce our carbon footprint, while developing new products and experiences, especially for our direct marketing business."

The HP PageWide Advantage 2200, the press with a new dryer

Unveiled in September, the HP PageWide Advantage 2200 is based on a different platform than HP's other rotary inkjet presses (the HP PageWide T series). The main change is in the dryer. Alain Wyckmans, HP's French manager for rotary inkjet, explains: "The HP PageWide Advantage 2200's dryer is less energy intensive, an important consideration with today's rising electricity costs.
And thanks to this dryer, which is also more powerful, it prints any type of job, almost at full speed, whether it is coated or uncoated, even if it is very heavy in ink.
Plus, it's a scalable platform: dryers can be added later to adapt to the print shop's needs."

Loïc Lefebvre confirms: "After only a few days of use, we have a quality never before achieved in full color inkjet, at a speed of 150 m/min (which we had never achieved before, and moreover on any type of paper. We tested media from 40 to 300 g/m 2 coated and uncoated, standard offset papersâeuros¦"

New products to develop

Together with six new Sitma WM30 wrappers, the new press will complete the company's four-year strategy to transform its film-wrapping volumes into fully customizable paper-wrapping volumes.

"This first HP PageWide A2200 also allows us to develop envelope manufacturing directly on our routing site. This is a completely new market that we are now addressing.
It also gives us opportunities on new applications: 100% digital newspapers with very short runs, photo albums, flyers and leaflets 100% digital with very large runs."

And this press will support the development of the Diffusion Plus group's historical applications, namely mailings in both short and very long runs.

From an environmental point of view, this machine, which consumes less energy, replaces several toner presses. In addition, the production that used to be done in three times 8 hours is now done in 8 hours. And thanks to an additional installation, the energy created by the machine is recovered to heat the building in winter and cool it in summer.
