Thermoforming applications possible on Acuity Prime flatbeds

With the new range of inks from Fujifilm formulated at its UK site, the Acuity Prime tables expand their scope of application.

Fujifilm unveils Uvijet HZ thermoforming ink for its Acuity Prime range of large format UV led flatbed printers.

The Acuity Prime 20, Acuity Prime 30 and the all-new Acuity Prime L can handle both rigid and flexible substrates. With this new set of inks, these flatbed printers can be used to produce small runs of vacuum-molded applications on a "wide range of materials commonly used in thermoforming" indicates the manufacturer, such as embossed signs.

These inks have been designed to meet the needs of deep thermoforming, linear folding and half-sphere blowing applications between 150 and 200°C. They are also suitable for folding, creasing, slitting and trimming.

"When thermoforming, it is important to prevent the ink from cracking, becoming brittle or flaking." says Matthew Whiting, product manager for Fujifilm Wide Format Inkjet Systems. He assures: "Our highly flexible Uvijet HZ inks maintain their superior quality throughout the thermoforming process for beautiful finishes."

Uvijet HZ inks are suitable for both internal and external applications and are free of volatile solvents and hydrocarbons to reduce their environmental impact compared to solvent-based products. The number of colors and other features have not been presented.

This new range of UV led ink has been formulated by Fujifilm at the FUJIFILM Speciality Ink Systems manufacturing facility in Broadstairs, UK.
