This external growth will enable Kodak to improve its control over the supply chain for its inkjet presses.

Kodak has acquired Graphic Systems Services (GSS), a supplier of transport systems for inkjet web presses and other print-related components and engineering services.

Through this acquisition, the US manufacturer of digital printing technology and specialty chemicals aims to gain "greater control over its inkjet press component supply chain and additional technical expertise" in order to further expand its inkjet press portfolio.

Kodak has been working with GSS for 20 years, and today supplies transport systems for the Kodak Prosper range of presses, including the Prosper Ultra 520 and Prosper 7000 Turbo.
GSS is located in Springboro, Ohio, near Kodak's inkjet design and manufacturing center.

"Having an in-house source of transport systems and the added expertise of an industry leader like GSS will immediately make our inkjet business stronger and more sustainable," said Jim Continenza, CEO of Kodak. While business conditions continue to be challenging, now is the time to control our own destiny and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure reliable delivery of presses to our customers."
