Labels, corrugated board and signage: Durst integrates GMG into its software solutions

Durst Group announces the integration of GMG spectral color management into its Workflow software and Smart Factory suite.

Colorimetric uniformity remains a major issue for printers, particularly in the packaging, label and signage segments. To address this issue, Italian digital printing systems manufacturer Durst Group is integrating the spectral color management technology developed by Germany's GMG into its Durst Workflow software and Smart Factory portfolio. The solution will soon be directly included in Durst Workflow and accessible at no extra cost to users with an active software contract.

GMG's color management is based on a spectral approach - not on conventional ICC profiles - which records the complete light behavior of inks. This method ensures consistent color reproduction, whatever the printing process or substrate.

An extension to all Durst markets

The implementation of GMG technology covers the three main segments in which Durst operates: labels and packaging, corrugated board, and signs and displays. For Michael Deflorian, Director of the Software & Solutions Business Unit at Durst Group, this collaboration "offers a unique level of chromatic consistency âeuros fully automated and highly scalable".

The Italian manufacturer also positions GMG as a central element of its Smart Factory architecture, part of Durst's Open Software Initiative. This approach, presented as open and cross-system, aims to connect the various software and hardware modules of the production chain.
