This Web-to-Print event brings together online printing platforms, technology suppliers and industry leaders. The French manufacturer of digital finishing equipment takes part alongside Konica Minolta.
The two partners have been working for several years with European online printing platforms to adapt production tools to web-to-print requirements and integrate finishing applications into higher value-added print offers.
MGI, digital finishing solutions that integrate with automated workflows
The technologies developed by MGI, a pioneer in digital finishing, are based on an inkjet process. The equipment applies 2D or 3D selective varnish, as well as 2D or 3D hot foil stamping, directly onto the printed product.
Unlike traditional processes, these digital operations require no screens, plates or specific shapes. This configuration reduces preparation steps and facilitates the production of short runs or runs with high value-added variable data.
MGI digital presses are designed to operate in automated production environments. They can handle runs consisting of multiple orders, often different from one another.
The equipment integrates with the MIS systems and workflow solutions used by Web-to-Print platforms. This connection automates the production chain from online order to finished product.
Artificial intelligence and predictive maintenance at the heart of MGI solutions
Since 2016, MGI has also been integrating software functions based on artificial intelligence. These tools assist in the shimming operations and help to reduce waste during job start-up.
The software also analyzes equipment operation to anticipate certain technical interventions. This predictive maintenance approach aims to improve machine availability in high-speed production environments.
In Munich, MGI Digital Technology and Konica Minolta are presenting these technologies for European online printing platforms.
MGI will then be present at Interpack, from May 7 to 13, 2026 in Dusseldorf, Germany, through its subsidiary KöraâeurosPackmat. The Group will be presenting its latest innovations for the packaging sector.
