Removable adhesive
Once applied, the removable adhesive can be removed without leaving any marks or damaging the substrate.
Permanent adhesive
Fast and permanent adhesive.
Reinforced adhesive
This adhesive has the same characteristics as the permanent adhesive, with extreme adhesion to suit a specific use.
Anamorphosis
Distortion of the printed visual caused by the bending of the flexographic plate when it is placed on the cylinder.
Anilox
Engraved metal cylinder specific to flexography. It doses and transfers the ink onto the printing form.
Advance
In the field of roll labels, this is the direction of the web. The feed rate is the space between the top of the first label and the top of the next.
Backing
This is the "waste" of the label. It is also referred to as "glassine", "backer" or "protector".
Cushioning
Assembly and adjustment time for the various label production tools: plate assembly, color validation, cutting parameters.
Cliché
Also known as a "printing plate" or "matrix", the plate is the relief printing form used on flexographic or letterpress presses. It deposits the ink on the support and the elements which it contains appear in negative.
Corona
Name given to the treatment by high voltage and high frequency electric discharge on a support to optimize its printability.
Self-adhesive complex
Designates, for example, on an adhesive reel, the set made up of the front (paper or film), the adhesive, the siliconized non-stick layer ("backing" or "backing").

Half-cutting
Cutting the edges of the label leaving the backing intact. This allows an easier and cleaner peeling of the label.
Full-chair cutout
Cutting of the three layers of the label.
Development
Designates the height of the label according to the direction of unwinding of the roll.
Screening
The area of the paper or adhesive film that is not part of the label and is removed after the label has been compressed and cut for automatic application.
Surface energy
The energy or surface tension is associated with the molecular properties of a support and represents its measure of printability.
Thickness
Is measured in microns or millimeters. This is the density of the adhesive or label itself.
FINAT
International Federation of Manufacturers and Converters of Adhesives and Heat Sealants on paper and other substrates.
Creep
A defect found in a label that has been subjected to excessive pressure or heat, expressed as excess adhesive on the edges of the label.
Label format
The dimensions of a label are always presented in the order of width/height. In the case of the label in reel, we speak in width/development according to the direction of unwinding of the reel.
Frontal
First layer of the label. It is also referred to as "media" or " support ". This is where the label is printed.
