What impact will the coronavirus have on Drupa 2020?

Messe Düsseldorf, the organizer of Drupa, gives us an update.

The coronavirus epidemic is having a major impact on major events in China, but also in the rest of the world, including Europe. The largest trade fair for the mobile phone industry, which was scheduled to take place from 24 to 27 February in Barcelona, Spain, has just been cancelled. Organizers of the Mobile World Congress were expecting more than 100,000 people.
When will Drupa, the highlight of the graphic arts trade fair, be held from 16 to 26 June 2020 at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre at Allemagne?? We asked Messe Düsseldorf, the organizer of Drupa, what the situation is.

Messe Düsseldorf is vigilant and explains that it is closely monitoring developments in partnership with the health authorities. "The safety of all employees, customers and guests is a top priority for Messe Düsseldorf. This also applies to the current coronavirus (2019-nCoV), which is currently spreading worldwide."

And the organizer of the exhibition is reassuring: the WHO, the Robert Koch Institute and the German authorities believe that the risk of infection of this pathogen in Germany is currently "very weak" .

In addition, Messe Düsseldorf reports that the medical facilities at the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Centre have the latest information at their disposal at all times and are well prepared. "There are clearly defined procedures for dealing with any person on the exhibition grounds who suddenly develops the symptoms of a serious illness. These procedures were developed and tested during SARS, Influenza A (H1N1) and also EHEC."

As a precautionary measure, additional hand disinfection stations have been installed and contact surface cleaning intervals have been shortened.

"Close collaboration between all relevant stakeholders ensures that the latest observations of the disease are shared, that information is passed on and that all procedures at the exhibition centre are modified to adapt to the situation"
