Reduced prepress maintenance with Agfa's Attiro cleaning module

Agfa launches a cleaning module for its Attiro gummer for violet newspaper printing plates.

The Attiro gummer for violet newspaper printing plates can now be upgraded with a cleaning module that considerably reduces the gummer's maintenance frequency.

Agfa's Attiro cleaning module requires newspaper printers to clean their Attiro gummer only after 12,000 m (12,000 ft.) 2 of printing plates. For the majority of users, complete cleaning is only necessary three or four times a year.

"Our cleaning cycle has been increased from 8,000 to 12,000 metres.. 2"

"The Attiro cleaning module allows us to extend the cleaning cycle from 8,000 to 12,000 m 2" , confirms Thomas Gabel, production manager at German printer Main-Post, one of the first to equip itself with the new Attiro cleaning module. "Our workload and costs are reduced, and we use less product to clean the developer. A simple press of the Attiro gumball machine screen will perform the two automated intermediate cleanings."

Rainer Kirschke, Agfa's Head of Newspaper Market, points out: "Prepress staff at newspaper printers around the world have greatly appreciated Agfa's Attiro Cascade Gummer, which features minimal use of gumming solution, simple maintenance and limited energy consumption. In addition, the small footprint of the system brings plate production closer to the press console for greater efficiency. In line with our ECO³ strategy, the new Attiro cleaning module makes this plate production solution even more environmentally friendly, economical and practical"
