Kodak boosts Prinergy On Demand workflow automation with artificial intelligence

The dynamic print planning functionality will be expanded to offer automation functions "never before seen in the printing industry".

Kodak's cloud-based, Prinergy on Demand workflow is about to enter a new stage of development. Kodak has just signed a licensing agreement with PerfectPattern, a company specializing in AI (artificial intelligence) solutions for the manufacturing industry, to use the source code of the sPrint One software.

With this special license, the printing press manufacturer will be able to more closely integrate the IA functionality of sPrint One into its Prinergy on-demand cloud workflow, simplifying the preparation of print jobs.

The two companies have been working together for two years. sPrint One is already the basis for the dynamic print planning option offered by Kodak. It unifies processing by automating and optimizing the amalgamated print run and print planning, taking into account many parameters.

"With this new license, we will be able to implement innovative AI technology more easily and directly than ever before, says Todd Bigger, vice president of software for Kodak's Print Division. It will provide us with a platform integrated with Industry 4.0 and with automation functions that have never been seen before in the entire printing industry. At the same time, Kodak will strengthen its portfolio of high-performance cloud-based workflow solutions that printers can fine-tune to their specific needs."
