Two InterTech Technology Awards 2020 for Kodak

The jury singled out the manufacturer for its two technologies "shaping the future".

Kodak has won two of the 11 prestigious ?InterTech Technology Awards 2020, one for its Uteco Sapphire EVO M digital rotary inkjet press and the second for Kodak Prosper QD packaging inks and Film Optimizer Agent (FOA).

Since 1978, the InterTech Technology Awards have been recognizing innovative technologies in the graphic arts and related industries. "Every year, our goal is to showcase technologies that shape the future.. says James Workman, vice-president of the technology and research centre of the U.S.-based Printing United Alliance, which is organizing the competition. These two Kodak technologies clearly met that criteria and deserve recognition."

According to James Workman, the jury particularly appreciated the breakthrough technology represented by the Sapphire EVO M press. The Sapphire EVO M press, the first high-speed digital press for flexible packaging that is capable of generating high-quality illustrations using aqueous inks on a wide range of substrates, enables flexible packaging printers to move from traditional to digital printing processes and enables brands to implement new creative concepts and campaigns to boost packaging business.

And regarding Prosper QD inks for packaging and FOA agent, James Workman says the jury was very impressed with the chemical advances that facilitate high-speed printing with Kodak's inkjet technology, including on non-porous packaging substrates. For Kodak, these inks and enhancers are quite simply "revolutionaries" They enable high-speed, high-quality printing on films and plastics while minimizing the cost of consumables.

"At Kodak, we view this double victory as a recognition of our long experience and expertise in chemicals, materials and digital printing technologies." says Randy Vandagriff, executive vice president of printing at Eastman Kodak Company.
