After the installation of the "beautiful" new generation Rapida 76 offset press from Koenig & Bauer Imprimerie Tremouillat Fouquet (ITF), located in Mulsanne in the Sarthe region, has acquired a new CTP. The printing company, which has a turnover of 9 million euros, has replaced its ten-year-old Agfa prepress equipment with another CTP from the Belgian manufacturer, the Avalon N8.
"With this new CTP, we gain a little bit in writing speed, but especially the big news for us are the two plate pallet loaders." explains Gilles Fouquet, the manager of the 91-employee printing company.
2400 offset plates with Agfa's Avalon N8
Working on two offset press formats, half format (53 x 75 cm) and large format (72 x 102 cm), the printer can load both plate sizes with Agfa's Expert Loader Var, which automatically detects the plate size.
"We can load a pallet of 1,200 offset plates at one time, which is about a month's worth of use on the large format. Previously, the CTP had to be continually replenished with packs of 50 or 100 plates. We have much less handling: the pallet is loaded directly into the loader and loads are much less frequent."
