Canon varioPRINT iX can be upgraded with Plockmatic's UV LED coating solution online

Canon's varioPRINT iX series of sheetfed inkjet presses can now be equipped with Plockmatic's DigiCoater Pro 400 HD LED coater.

Press manufacturer Canon and print and mailroom finishing solutions provider Plockmatic have collaborated to offer today the full inline integration of Plockmatic's DigiCoater Pro 400 HD LED coater with the varioPRINT iX sheetfed inkjet press.

By combining these two technologies, owners of a varioPRINT iX press can produce UV gloss coated applications - such as business cards, postcards, photo products, book covers and other printed applications - at the speed of the print engine in a single automated workflow. This integration eliminates manual intervention and the risk of production bottlenecks. The coated print comes out at room temperature, the sheets are immediately ready.

"With its low coating coverage (only 2-4 g of coating per m 2 ) required to complete the UV curing process, print finishing is much more cost-effective than with traditional technologies that use 15-30 g/m 2 ", assures Canon.

Sheets with print defects will be reported to the print engine's PRISMAsync controller and the varioPRINT iX will be able to reprint them automatically without having to reprint the entire job.

"This is the perfect opportunity for our customers to expand their product portfolio and increase their profit margins, while producing applications with even more impact and in a less costly manner." according to Hayco van Gaal, vice president of sales and commercial printing at Canon Europe.
