Heidelberg is completely revamping its Prinect workflow, which will now be available in the cloud. All the functions of the new workflow, called Prinect Direct, will be made available to customers in the form of cloud-based applications.
After the launch last fall of Print Shop Analytics which enables real-time monitoring of a print shop's performance indicators, Heidelberg today unveiled the second application of the new Prinect Direct workflow: the Smart Product App.
The Smart Product App, which will be available in the fourth quarter of 2022, is designed to increase the efficiency of commercial print prepress. This software tool automates job creation in the prepress stage, from job creation to proof approval.
For example, the Smart Product App automatically checks the quality of produced PDF files. And in addition to PDFs, all other types of job data are also compared with each other. Users of the Smart Product App do not need any special knowledge to use it.
With Prinect Direct, the separation of commercial and production processes is over
"With the new cloud-based Prinect Direct workflow, Heidelberg is taking a major step towards autonomous production in print shops, in line with our Smart Print Shop concept, says Christopher Berti, Software Solutions Manager at Heidelberg. The new Prinect applications eliminate most manual steps throughout a print shop's production process, from job creation to delivery of the finished product."
With Prinect Direct, Heidelberg aims to ultimately abolish the separation between commercial and production processes by providing the relevant functions in a single workflow.
The Smart Product application will later support label and packaging production. The existing Prinect Production Manager software is compatible with Prinect Direct.
