Kazuo Inamori, the founder of Kyocera, has died

Kazuo Inamori passed away on August 24 at the age of 90. Born in Kagoshima, Japan, he graduated from Kagoshima University in 1955. He joined Shofu Industries, an insulation manufacturing company in Kyoto.
And it was in April 1959, at the age of 27, that he established Kyoto Ceramic, which is known today as Kyocera Corporation. He served as president of the company until 1997 and then became president emeritus.
Kyocera currently has sales of JPY1,838,938 million (approximately ?13 billion) in various markets, including ceramic and electronic components, photovoltaic cells, telephones and printing equipment, and employs 83,000 people worldwide.

Kazuo Inamori also founded the Japanese telecommunications company DDI Corporation in 1984, which merged with KDD in 2000 to become KDDI Corporation.
In February 2010, Kazuo Inamori also became president of Japan Airlines.

The company director has also been involved in various charitable activities. In particular, he created the Kyoto Prize, an international award that annually recognizes people who have contributed to the development of science and world civilization, as well as to spiritual elevation.
In 1983, he opened Seiwajyuku School as a volunteer to train the next generation of entrepreneurs. By the time it closed in 2019, Seiwajyuku had 56 locations in Japan and 48 overseas.

Strasbourg, world book capital for 2024

The city of Strasbourg has been designated by Unesco to be the World Book Capital 2024.
"In uncertain times, many turn to books for refuge and a source of dreams. Indeed, books have this unique dual capacity to entertain and educate us. That is why we must ensure that everyone has access to knowledge and reflection through books and reading. It is for these purposes that UNESCO designates each year a World Book Capital. After Guadalajara in 2022 and Accra in 2023, I am pleased to announce the designation of Strasbourg as World Book Capital for 2024 this summer, Audrey Azoulay, Director General of UNESCO, announced that "the project will be a success.

The year of celebrations will begin on April 23, 2024, World Book and Copyright Day.

Hubergroup updates its UV flexo offering

Hubergroup has revamped its Iray UV flexo ink range. The German printing ink manufacturer, which says it has "improved the performance of its products" has expanded its offering to include primers, adhesives and low-migration inks and coatings for food packaging.

"We offer all the products needed for UV flexo printing from a single source," says Alexander Blasek, Global Project Manager UV Flexo at Hubergroup. That's why we have established a very broad portfolio of inks, coatings, adhesives and primers and ensured that the products are perfectly matched to each other."

The Iray range now includes UV-curable flexographic inks and coatings for food packaging.

The inks and varnishes also meet the Ingede 11 paper deinkability standards.
