Domino's Spectrum Europe event a success

Guests were able to see the Domino N730i digital press in action for the first time in Europe.

More than 100 professionals attended the first Spectrum Europe day organized by Domino. The event, which took place on November 5 and 6, marked the inauguration of the manufacturer's European Digital Center of Excellence (DCE) located in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands.

Guests were able to attend roundtable discussions led by the European self-adhesive label industry association Finat, the British printing group Cartor Security Printers and the American printing media manufacturer Avery Dennison, as well as the first ever European presentation of the n730i digital press signed Domino.

The event began with a presentation by Jeremy Jones, Domino's global marketing director. "Our new European Digital Center of Excellence is a dedicated space for European customers and distributors to attend tailored demonstrations and gain hands-on experience with our entire portfolio of digital color label presses and monochrome variable data printing solutions."

Next, Jules Lejeune, Director General of Finat, gave an overview of the challenges facing the label industry. In particular, he stated: "The correlation between GDP and label stock demand has been skewed since the beginning of this decade due to pandemic and post-pandemic disruptions. Currently, the future remains uncertain; there are too many factors impacting our industry, making it difficult for stakeholders to plan or make decisions."

Then Petra Gerritsma, Head of Sustainability, Labeling and Packaging Materials, Avery Dennison EMEA, spoke about the group's goals: "We have pledged that 100 percent of our standard products will be made from renewable materials. We produce labels for circularity, which means we are very involved in the recyclability of the entire package once the label is affixed to it."

Andrew Murden, Head of Digital Print Aftermarket at Domino, then explained how Domino can maximize its customers' investments through business analysis, workflow optimization and application development.

The event concluded with the first European demonstration of Domino's N730i digital press. Guests were able to see the performance of the 1200 dpi Brother Bitstar piezo printheads on this label press, as well as the automated features of Domino i-Tech intelligent technology such as i-Tech SetAlign, which adjusts density and aligns the printheads for consistent, seamless print quality across the web.

See you in two years for the second edition of Domino's Spectrum Europe.
