Swiss paper processing manufacturer Hunkeler is expanding its range of unwinders with the launch of its first non-stop media unwind feeder. Named RX8, this feeder is intended for jet presses mainly for publishing applications.
The RX8 allows not only the classic continuous feeding, but also the press-controlled continuous changeover between two different substrates. This means that the machine is fed with paper without interruption, even during the splicing of the reels. "Compared to manual roll changes, the RX8 provides up to a 30% increase in line productivity, depending on print speed and paper weight." says the manufacturer.
The production speed reaches 152 m/min with the RX8-500 model and 250 m/min on the RX8-800 unwinder.
The RX8 is compatible with coils up to 1270 mm in diameter and 406 to 572 mm in width.
With the compact side loading with automatic lifting of the transport carriage rollers, this solution is "ergonomic in a wide variety of environments" .
Hunkeler will soon launch the media dispenser with automatic preparation of the strip joint.
