Canon varioPrint iX printer performance enhanced

With a new software release, Canon is improving the media control and referencing performance of varioPrint iX inkjet presses.

Canon is releasing an update to PRISMAsync, the controller for its varioPrint iX printer line launched in 2020. With this R4.3 release, three major new features improve the performance of the varioPrint iX2100 and varioPrint iX3200 B3 format inkjet presses.

First, the PRISMAsync R.4.3 controller enhances media control. Cecile Rodde, TDS product marketing manager at Canon Printing, explains: "Before the printing module, the PRISMAsync R.4.3 detects and ejects to another tray the sheets that do not meet the printing criteria such as dehorned sheets, double sheets, wrong sizes..."

Next, the updated varioPrint iX2100 and varioPrint iX3200 check the quality on each printed page now, instead of some sheets, and make the necessary adjustments automatically.

The third major new feature is the automatic validation process of the client's supports . More than 1,000 papers are referenced and validated for varioPrint, offering a wide choice of substrates such as standard coated, uncoated, textured and tear-resistant offset media to produce books, brochures, direct mail, flyers and calendars. "In addition, with the new version of the controller, users can also use an automatic validation process for other media."

Finally, the Canon PRISMAsync R4.3 controller also provides hot-folder support via SMB protocol and JDF optimization. It also offers the ability to process the front and back of the media to be printed differently.

Since its launch in 2020, 275 varioPrint iX inkjet presses have been installed worldwide, including 125 in the EMEA region. And 30% of users have chosen to install at least one other press, the manufacturer boasts.
