Fujifilm's Jet Press FP790 arrives on the flexible packaging digital printing market

First unveiled in 2021, Fujifilm's first flexible packaging press, the Jet Press FP790, goes on sale this year.

Fujifilm reveals new details on the Jet Press FP790, an inkjet machine to be unveiled in June 2021, marking its entry into the digital printing market for flexible packaging.

We now know its release date. After beta testing in Europe, the USA and Japan, the Jet Press FP790 will be available at the end of 2023.

The 790 mm wide Jet Press FP790 CMYK plus two channels of white ink can produce both flexographic and gravure-quality work, thanks to a resolution of 1,200 x 1,200 dpi.

In addition to high opacity white, it offers an extended gamut comprising over 90% of the Pantone color gamut. "The wide color gamut allows converters to achieve unique brand colors and spot tones without the need for additional special inks." stresses the Japanese manufacturer.

This inkjet press reaches speeds of 50 m/min, regardless of the number of colors used, "with exceptional uptime that contributes to its overall performance".

To ensure the machine's integration into existing production environments, Fujifilm has entered into a number of partnerships to test the new press. In particular, it has signed an agreement with Henkel for laminating films nordmeccanica for finishing solutions and Hybrid Software for the digital front end of the production workflow . Further partnerships will be announced at a later date.

Manuel Schrutt, Packaging Manager at Fujifilm EMEA, states: "Fujifilm has built up a reputation for excellence in inkjet technology over many years. Today, this proven expertise is adapted to the specific requirements of the flexible packaging market (...). Offering outstanding quality, seamless integration, and remarkable reliability and productivity, the Jet Press FP790 gives access to a level of quality, productivity and reliability unmatched for a digital packaging press."
