Manroland Goss launches new spare parts identification system

Since February, customers have been able to use an application to identify the spare part they need more quickly.

Finding spare parts for printing machines can be a daunting task. Some web offset presses contain 40,000 components, with 5,000 to 10,000 parts requiring regular replacement. To optimize the search, German manufacturer Manroland Goss has been offering an online and mobile application since February, replacing the need to search through catalogs and long lists of spare parts.

Called Partium, this tool quickly identifies the elements to be replaced thanks to a combined search of images and semantic text.

The photo search function enables image matching. But according to manroland Goss, Partium's patented technology goes further, recognizing the technical concept of the part searched for, whether disassembled or assembled, and its intended use. From a database of millions of parts, the user then receives a search result.

In addition to this image search, manroland Goss offers a text search. The user describes the press element he is looking for, without needing to know its exact name, and activates filters - such as part dimensions - to refine his request.

The manufacturer also makes it possible to contact the manroland Goss team directly via the application.
