The LabelStream LS2000, Canon's aqueous inkjet label press

This Canon press, to be unveiled at Drupa 2024, is equipped with a new high-definition print head and uses water-based ink that complies with food safety label standards.

After unveiling the varioPrint iX1700 sheet-fed inkjet press, Canon introduces the LabelStream LS2000, a new inkjet label press with a print speed of 40 meters per minute. Designed for industrial label printing, this digital machine is the first Canon inkjet label press to use aqueous inks.

The LabelStream LS2000 prints in CMYK plus white on self-adhesive substrates, both paper (including coated paper, synthetic paper and textured paper) and film (even heat-sensitive), up to a print width of 340 mm.
Its new water-based inks meet food safety standards.

Like the varioPrint iX1700, the LabelStream LS2000 is equipped with new 2400 x 1200 DPI printheads featuring an ink circulation mechanism. This system helps extend printhead life.
Printhead maintenance and quality control are automated, as are colorimetry and color adjustment.

Also, the inks used on the Canon LabelStream LS2000 press have the same characteristics as those used on the varioPrint iX1700. They are water-based polymer inks, "high-density developed specifically by Canon for the new printhead. They offer a wider color gamut, and their very thin coating reduces light scattering, allowing textured substrates to retain their original look and feel, explains Canon.

Jennifer Kolloczek, Marketing and Innovation Director at Canon Europe, adds: " Canon's first water-based inkjet label press, the LabelStream LS2000 offers label converters the productivity, reliability and speed they need to meet their customers' demands. Thanks to its versatility, and expected food safety compliance, they'll be able to diversify their offerings."

The LabelStream LS2000 will be exhibited for the first time in Europe at Drupa 2024 (May 28 to June 7 in Düsseldorf, Germany) and marketed in early 2025.
